The process

• Project scoping: I work with you at the beginning of the project to develop a brief that defines the objectives of your site and identifies the list of page content required and how core reference will be supplied. If it's a small site I can help you to plan the structure and menu. You provide me with a list of your competitors so that I understand the context in which your site will be appearing. I provide a quote following this process. There is a cost for my input into this scoping process regardless of whether the job proceeds further.
• Planning & scheduling: I often work collaboratively with my client's web development company or designer, as another 'clip-on' service module. At this stage of the project the team members are introduced, responsibilities are allocated and timeframes and budgets are confirmed. A project champion is identified and approval procedures are clarified.
  
• Information gathering: I source content reference from phone interviews with you, your staff and subject matter experts and from core written or printed material provided by you, including notes, CVs, marketing and branding material, reports and stats.
  
• Finding the right words: I write, rewrite or edit and shape the text to meet your site objectives and to accurately reflect your brand, vision and values.
  
• Checking process: The first draft copy is checked by the client. I then sub-edit any feedback provided.
  
• Ready for loading: The signed-off copy is delivered to the designer or web developer who load the content. I check the copy in situ before the site goes live to ensure that the hierarchy of information has been preserved during the design and loading process.
