Versatile business writer, speechwriter, blog writer & manuscript assessorBenefit from my hard-won insightsI offer 30+ years of experience providing a range of communication services. I’m a freelance copywriter, manuscript assessor, editor, speechwriter, blog writer, web content provider, novelist and poet based in Auckland, New Zealand. I provide business writing and web content for local bodies, not-for-profit organisations, educational institutions, corporate businesses and small businesses representing a very diverse range of industry sectors. So chances are, if you’ve got a communications project, I’ve done something like it before and know what’s worked and what’s best avoided. I’m not an islandI’ve cultivated a network of other creative professionals in related fields such as design, photography and web development with whom I collaborate to get your project completed successfully. But, bottom line, I always write the copy myself, to guarantee the quality. I wear many hats
In addition to my work as a freelance copywriter, speechwriter and manuscript assessor, I’m also a fiction author and poet outside work. So I have a robust appreciation of the high standard of writing and revising required to meet the requirements of an international market. Three of my novels have been published internationally (The Visitation, Four Ways to be a Woman, L’Amore Secondo Miranda), and a collection of short stories (Modettes) was published by Penguin Books in New Zealand. The Visitation was shortlisted in the fiction category of the Montana New Zealand Book Awards. A collection of short stories, Modettes, was published by Penguin Books New Zealand. I’m a previous winner of the BNZ Katherine Mansfield Short Story Award, and was a runner-up in the Sunday Star Times Short Story Competition. I’m also a former Buddle Findlay Sargeson Fellow. My non-fiction book Small Steps to Happiness was a finalist in the unpublished category of the 2015 Ashton Wylie Book Awards. My short stories have been anthologised and also broadcast on Radio New Zealand. I’ve also had the privilege of being a panelist at three international literary festivals. I help other writers to improve their writingI’ve worked with numerous authors both in New Zealand and internationally to provide practical and constructive guidance and recommendations to help them to improve their writing skills. The strategic and analytical communication tools I developed through my work as a corporate writer preparing copy for reports, newsletters, websites and articles have proved invaluable to writing clear, concise reports that precisely identify the issues needing to be addressed in authors’ manuscripts. |
